FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 10, 2019) – The Department for Local Government (DLG) has announced a $500,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission for the Leadership Kentucky Foundation, Inc. The federal funds will contribute to the INSPIRE Kentucky project, which will provide leadership training to more than 80 participants from 54 counties over the course of a 5-month program.
“Great leaders are always looking for opportunities to grow, so I’m so pleased to see these resources dedicated to building the next generation of leaders in Eastern Kentucky,” DLG Commissioner Sandra K. Dunahoo said. “This program will connect participants with valuable mentorships and provide them with a deeper understanding of both the challenges and opportunities that exist in their communities. I look forward to seeing these rising stars forge new relationships and hone their unique talents.”
The program will build upon the partnerships that non-profit organization Leadership Kentucky has with local leadership programs, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, Sharing Our Appalachian Region (SOAR), associated ARC projects and other programs.
In additional to the ARC funding, local sources will contribute $125,000 to the program.
