Training Overview:

Open Meetings/Open Records—The purpose of the acts will be discussed, as well as the general requirements, duties in responding to open records requests, duties in responding to open meetings complaints, exceptions, legal challenges, role of the Attorney General, and other rights and regulations.

Records Management—Training addresses the basic principles of managing public records, use of retention schedules, and destruction of obsolete records. Managing email records, and maintaining and preserving electronic records will also be covered.

Instructors:
Ms. Amye L. Bensenhaver, JD, Assistant Attorney General; Trace Kirkwood, Manager, Local Records Program, Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives; Kris Justus, Electronic Records Analyst, Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives.

Who Should Attend?
This training will be extremely beneficial to all city and county officials and their staff responsible for meetings and official records. People who serve on planning commissions and those involved in Special Purpose Governmental Entities (SPGE) should also take advantage of this training opportunity.

Training Credit Available:
The Training has been approved for credit under the County Officials, HB 55, or the Kentucky League of Cities Official training.
