FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 24, 2017) - Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky Boards and Commissions:
Stephanie Rae Turner, Joseph Eugene Miller, Lanta Willow Wright, David William DeSanctis, Laureen Mary Vassil and Sherry Lynn Pickett have been appointed to the Commonwealth Council on Developmental Disabilities. Joe L. Cowan and Sherry S. Sanders have been reappointed.
- Stephanie Rae Turner, of Owensboro, is a resident services coordinator for the Housing Authority of Owensboro. Ms. Turner will represent parents/guardians of children with developmental disabilities. She shall serve for a term expiring July 16, 2019.
- Joseph Eugene Miller, of Bowling Green, is retired. Mr. Miller will represent parents/guardians of children with developmental disabilities. He shall serve for a term expiring July 16, 2019.
- Lanta Willow Wright, of McDaniels, is a student at Breckinridge County High School. Ms. McDaniels will represent individuals with developmental disabilities. She shall serve for a term expiring July 16, 2019.
- David William DeSanctis, of Louisville, is an inspirational speaker. Mr. DeSanctis will represent individuals with developmental disabilities. He shall serve for a term expiring July 16, 2019.
- Laureen Mary Vassil, of Lexington, is a nurse at the University of Kentucky’s Children Hospital. Ms. Vassil will represent parents/guardians of children with developmental disabilities. She shall serve for a term expiring July 16, 2019.
- Sherry Lynn Pickett, of Russell Springs, is a substitute teacher at Russell County Schools. Ms. Pickett will represent parents/guardians of children with developmental disabilities. She shall serve for a term expiring July 16, 2019.
- Joe L. Cowan, of Monticello, is an instructional specialist/ADA coordinator. Mr. Cowan will represent individuals with developmental disabilities. He shall serve for a term expiring July 16, 2019.
- Sherry S. Sanders, of Somerset, serves a unique and federally required role on the Council, where at least one member of the Council must be “an individual with a developmental disability who resides or previously resided in an institution or an immediate relative or guardian of such individual. She shall serve for a term expiring July 16, 2019.
The Commonwealth Council on Developmental Disabilities creates change through visionary leadership and advocacy so that people with developmental disabilities have choices and control over their own lives, resulting in the opportunity for all Kentuckians to live, work and play within the state. The Council consists of twenty-six members.
Kayla Combs has been appointed to the Breast Cancer Advisory Committee.
- Kayla Combs, of Hazard, is a rural project manager at the Kentucky Office of Rural Health Care. Ms. Combs will represent the Kentucky Office of Rural Health Care. She shall serve for a term expiring July 31, 2020.
The Breast Cancer Advisory Committee develops and monitors the implementation of guidelines for access to and the quality of the services of the Breast Cancer Screening Program.
Mark Frederick Sweet has been appointed to the Board of Professional Geologists.
- Mark Frederick Sweet, of Richmond, is a geologist and land surveyor for Shield Environmental Associates. Mr. Sweet will represent geologists. He shall serve for a term expiring July 14, 2020.
The Board of Professional Geologists regulates and controls the licensing and conduct of professional geologists within the commonwealth of Kentucky.
