Gov. Bevin Appoints Marty Snowden as Magistrate for the First District of Estill County

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 7, 2017) – Gov. Matt Bevin today appointed Marty Snowden, of Irvine, as Magistrate for the First District of Estill County.

Snowden has served as president and CEO of Citizens Bank & Trust Co. of Jackson and secretary/treasurer of the John R. Turner Holding Company since 2009. He also serves as advisor to the Board of Directors for Peoples Bank and Trust Co. of Hazard.

"It is an honor to be selected by Gov. Bevin to fill the magisterial vacancy in Estill County due to the resignation of Gerald Rader," said Snowden. "Estill County is my home, and I intend to serve the citizens of our community with integrity and humility in the days ahead."

Snowden is a graduate of Estill County High School and Eastern Kentucky University. He has previously worked as a bank examiner for the Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions and as a production foreman/lab manager for Southeast Coal Company.

Marty and his wife Margaret Lisle Snowden have been married for 29 years and have one daughter, Olivia.

Snowden will serve until the position is filled in accordance with the results of the November 2018 midterm election, pursuant to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.
