FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 22, 2017) - Gov. Matt Bevin has appointed Earnest 'Earnie' Duty II, of Argillite, to the position of Commissioner for the Third District of Greenup County, replacing Billy Ray Stephens, who recently passed away.

"I am honored to accept an appointment by Governor Bevin to complete Mr. Stephens' term, a man who was dedicated and worked hard for Greenup County," said Mr. Duty. "As Abraham Lincoln once stated, 'I do the very best I know how - the very best I can; and I mean to keep on doing so until the end.' The same holds true for me."

Mr. Duty is employed as a Human Resources Business Partner with King's Daughters Medical Center and previously worked in the banking industry. He is a graduate of Russell High School and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.

In addition to his professional career, Earnie has been a past volunteer with AmeriCorps, Community Hospice, and several other organizations. He and his wife, Carrie, are the proud parents of two sons (Austin and Alexander).

Mr. Duty's appointment takes effect immediately and he shall serve until the position is filled in accordance with the results of the November 2018 midterm election, pursuant to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.
