FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 22, 2017) - Gov. Matt Bevin has appointed Brenda Huffman, of Leitchfield, to the position of Magistrate for the Third District of Grayson County, replacing the Honorable Bill Skaggs, who recently passed away.

"I am very thankful to Governor Bevin for extending me the opportunity to serve out the remainder of Mr. Skaggs' unexpired term, a personal friend and longtime public servant," said Mrs. Huffman. "Specifically, it was my expressed commitment to Governor Bevin that I wished only to serve the citizens of Grayson County in an interim capacity and have no intention of seeking permanent election."

Previously, Mrs. Huffman served on the Leitchfield City Council from 1994 to 2008 and worked as a legal secretary for over 30 years, primarily in Grayson County. Now retired, Brenda and her husband Silas spend a great deal of time tending to their farm. They have one son (Jurl) and can often be found with their grandson, Ty, who is a member of the Grayson County Marching Cougars Band.

Mrs. Huffman's appointment takes effect immediately and she shall serve until the position is filled in accordance with the results of the November 2018 midterm election, pursuant to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.
