FRANKFORT, Ky. (October 22, 2018) – The Department for Local Government (DLG) has announced an Area Development Fund (ADF) grant of $3,919 to Ballard County Fiscal Court.

The grant will allow the county to be reimbursed for some of the costs associated with recent electrical upgrades at the Ballard County Courthouse.

“The courthouse is a historic building and has required some recent upgrades to keep it safe and comfortable for employees and visitors,” DLG Commissioner Sandra K. Dunahoo said. “I commend Ballard County officials for reaching out to us and looking for ways to make local dollars go further.”

“We’re in a time where city and county coffers are limited, and unexpected repairs can cause some degree of financial strain,” Sen. Danny Carroll said. “This grant funding helps ease the burden of necessary improvements. I’m grateful for this investment.”

"I’m pleased to see these funds invested in Ballard County, and thankful that the needs of our communities are being prioritized in Frankfort,” Rep. Steven Rudy said. “The maintenance and upkeep of county buildings is critically important, making every grant dollar secured a huge help.”

The ADF Grant program was established by the 1976 Kentucky General Assembly to fund projects that contribute to community or industrial development. The funds are administered by DLG, an arm of the Office of the Governor dedicated to supporting local officials and communities. For more information, visit dlg.ky.gov.
