FRANKFORT, Ky. (October 22, 2018) – The Department for Local Government (DLG) has announced an Area Development Fund (ADF) grant of $4,386 to the City of Silver Grove.
The grant will allow the city to replace the Silver Grove Veterans Memorial, which is located in Chief Sayer’s Park.
“The current brick memorial has deteriorated due to exposure to the weather, particularly flooding,” DLG Commissioner Sandra K. Dunahoo said. “I’m proud that DLG could direct funding toward a new granite monument, which will pay tribute to the bravery and service of our military veterans.”
The new monument will display the emblems of the branches of the military, a Purple Heart emblem and an eagle design. The City of Silver Grove will clear the existing monument, pour a concrete pad for the new memorial and provide the surrounding landscaping.
“I’m pleased that the Department for Local Government could make this new Veterans Memorial a reality for the City of Silver Grove,” Sen. Wil Schroder said. “I hope that this new memorial will serve as a reminder of our gratitude for the service of the brave men and women we honor, and a reminder for future generations of the sacrifices made by our nation’s military.”

The ADF Grant program was established by the 1976 Kentucky General Assembly to fund projects that contribute to community or industrial development.
