FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 25, 2019) – The Department for Local Government (DLG) has announced a $1,000,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to Wolfe County Fiscal Court.

The federal funds will allow the county to construct a new 200,000-gallon elevated tank, which is expected to alleviate water pressure issues experienced during the peak tourist season in the area of Pine Ridge and Cliff View Resort.

“The new tank will replace the current tank, which in addition to not being large enough to accommodate current demands and future development is aging and partially caved in at the top,” DLG Commissioner Sandra K. Dunahoo said. “This project is expected to benefit the tourists drawn to the natural beauty of the area, as well as a number of households in Lee and Powell counties.”

“I’m pleased to see DLG support Wolfe County and the City of Campton with these federal funds,” Sen. Robert Stivers said. “I’d like to thank Commissioner Dunahoo and her staff for their assistance throughout the funding process.”

“I look forward to seeing this new infrastructure investment improve our water services, and by extension, tourism in Wolfe County,” Rep. Bobby McCool said. “Tourism is an important component of our Eastern Kentucky economy, and I would like to thank the Department for Local Government for making this investment available to our local officials.”
