FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 5, 2019) – The Department for Local Government (DLG) has named Chris Musgrave as its new operations manager. In this position, Musgrave will assist the chief of staff in managing the daily operations of the department. He will also participate in the planning and implementation of DLG’s policy goals and objectives, as well as aid in various legal matters.
Prior to joining DLG, Musgrave most recently served as the director of government relations at the Kentucky Department of Education. He also spent three years as a field director for the Club for Growth, identifying potential candidates for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives across 10 states and contributing to research and fundraising efforts.
Musgrave previously served as a field representative and staffer for U.S. Senator Rand Paul. In this capacity, Musgrave worked closely with local government officials and organizations within Kentucky’s energy industry on behalf of the Sen. Paul. He has also worked as an attorney.
“Chris Musgrave brings to the DLG team a wealth of experience working with local communities,” DLG Commissioner Sandra K. Dunahoo said. “His ability to communicate on a local level, combined with his project implementation skills, fits with the mission of the Department for Local Government.”
Musgrave holds a juris doctorate from the Appalachian School of Law, as well as a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of the Cumberlands.

Musgrave lives in Lexington with his wife and two kids.
