Maysville Mason County Industrial Development Authority Receives $508,000 in Community Development Block Grants

Grant Will Fund Purchase of Radio Frequency Welding Equipment for Economic
Development in Mason County

FRANKFORT, Ky. (August 30, 2019) – The Department for Local Government (DLG) has announced a $508,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) award for Mason County, on behalf of the Maysville Mason County Industrial Development Authority (MMCIDA). These CDBG funds will purchase manufacturing equipment to lease to PatienTech LLC. PatienTech, with operations existing in Canada, would relocate their operations to Mason County.

PatienTech develops and markets advanced medical sleep and sports systems using proprietary and patented smart fabric technology. Specifically, this equipment would be utilized for the construction and radio frequency welding of internal bladders for retail and commercial “smart beds” that utilize sensory fabric as inputs to adjust or more comfortable sleeping experience.

“It’s important to ensure that our communities have the infrastructure necessary for economic expansion,” said DLG Commissioner Sandra Dunahoo. “I’m pleased that DLG was able to play a part in this important project.”

“I look forward to watching the impact this project has on Mason County,” state Senator Stephen West said. “I appreciate Governor Bevin and Commissioner Dunahoo for supporting Mason County with these funds.”

“I want to thank everyone involved in securing this CDBG funding, which will be a big help in our work to increase economic development,” said state Representative John Sims, Jr. “There are many of us in Mason County who are excited about this project.”
