ARC/ORNL Summer STEM Programs

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Summer STEM Programs are a unique summer residential learning opportunity for Appalachian's high school and middle school students, as well as high school teachers, focusing on STEM disciplines.

Now in its 29th year, the ARC/ORNL Summer STEM Programs offer high school and middle school students intensive hands-on experience in science, math and computer science technology through group research projects with award-winning scientists.

When?
July 7 - 20, 2018 - High school students & teachers
July 15 - 20, 2018 - Middle school students

Where?
The program is held at Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

What's Included?
Students receive transportation to attend the programs and full room and board, as well as all expenses related to lab work and field trips. Teachers receive the same package, plus a $1,000 stipend. Teachers and staff are housed separately at ORAU facilities or a nearby hotel. Student housing will be fully supervised around the clock by program staff.

The application deadline is March 16, 2018. Space is limited and dependent on available funding.
