City of Bradfordsville Receives $354,576 CDBG Grant for Wastewater Improvement Project

Grant Will Fund Renovations and Repairs of Wastewater System

FRANKFORT, Ky. (November 1, 2019) – The Department for Local Government (DLG) today announced a $354,576 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocation for the City of Bradfordsville, in Marion County, to make significant improvements to the city’s wastewater system.

“We are excited today to announce $354,576 in CDBG grant funding for the City of Bradfordsville,” said Gov. Matt Bevin. “Our Department for Local Government works closely with local officials to address priority projects that will most positively impact their communities. This significant investment is based on those discussions and will enable vital infrastructure improvements to be made.”

This project will re-configure and rehabilitate the wastewater treatment plant’s clarification and equalization basins and install a new headworks screen. The project will also install a much-needed influent meter, a composite sampler, and a PAA disinfection feed system.

The project will install 3,780 linear feet of 10-inch or small sewer line to reduce inflow and infiltration using cured-in-place-piping (CIPP). Additionally, the project will utilize a camera to inspect 13,499 linear feet of sewer mains, manhole sealing, and capping disconnects.

“Finding the funding to properly maintain our wastewater systems is critically important for communities across the Commonwealth – especially our smaller communities,” said DLG Commissioner Sandra Dunahoo. “With this grant allocation, the City of Bradfordsville will be able to provide improved quality service to over 135 households in the community. I’m pleased that we were able to assist with this important project.”

"I cannot emphasize the importance of these grants enough," Senator Jimmy Higdon said. "This funding provides communities the ability to improve essential public water and wastewater systems. I look forward to this revitalization and put my full support behind projects like these."

Community Development Block Grant Program

The CDBG program, overseen by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, provides assistance to communities for use in revitalizing neighborhoods, expanding affordable housing and economic opportunities, providing infrastructure and/or improving community facilities and services.
