FRANKFORT, Ky. (January 15, 2019) – The Department for Local Government is now accepting applications for funding cycle 2019 grants through the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and the Recreational Trails Program (RTP).
The
Land and Water Conservation Fund provides federal funds to protect important natural areas, acquire land for outdoor recreation and to develop or renovate public outdoor recreation facilities such as campgrounds, picnic areas, sports and playfields, swimming facilities, boating facilities, fishing facilities, trails, natural areas and passive parks. Cities, counties, state and federal agencies can request a minimum of $25,000 and a maximum of $250,000 for their project. This grant requires a 50/50 match and is funded through the National Park Service.
Grants through the
Recreational Trails Program can be used to provide assistance for acquisition of easements, development and/or maintenance of recreational trails and trailhead facilities for both motorized and non-motorized use. City and county governments, as well as state and federal agencies, can request a minimum of $25,000 and a maximum of $250,000 for their project. This grant requires an 80/20 match and is funded through the Federal Highway Administration.
