FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 25, 2019) – During the recent Kentucky County Judge-Executive Association Conference from Feb. 6-8, the Department for Local Government (DLG) announced $6,025,827 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for nine projects across the Commonwealth.
“These projects vary in scope and matter, but all of them aim to create safer communities,” DLG Commissioner Sandra K. Dunahoo said. “I am proud that the Department for Local Government could provide a path forward for these important projects.”
The awards include:
- $284,000 to Barren County Fiscal Court for the demolition of the former Barren County Correctional Facility, which has been deemed a potential health and safety risk due to blight
- $500,000 to the City of Brooksville for the demolition of two unsafe structures in the city’s downtown area and the construction of a new 2,400-square-foot community center
- $1,000,000 to the City of Calhoun for the design and construction of a new 400,000-gallon-per-day wastewater treatment plant
- $910,827 to the City of Sebree for the replacement of sanitary sewer line
- $500,000 to Estill County for the renovation and restoration of the old Mack Theater in Irvine, Ky.
- $714,000 to Hickman County Fiscal Court to assist owners of dilapidated housing units in the communities of Oakton and Moscow
- $495,000 to Johnson County Fiscal Court to construct an approximately 2,000-square-foot addition to the current W.R. Castle Fire and Rescue station
- $900,000 to Leslie County Fiscal Court and the Hyden-Leslie Water District to fund water system improvements
- $722,000 to McCreary County Fiscal Court to replace 30,785 linear feet of waterline along Marsh Creek Road near Strunk, Ky.
